DoC MSE :: Sonja's Hypo-Pups!

This month's MSE was a littl ebit of a doozy but I had so much fun with it! Look at all of these beautiful little hypo pups!! I tried to make Sonja look like an adult in her headshot, since she's technically a puppy herself right now! Pups are still far off in her future, but I still wanted to participate in the meme!

Some of these pairings are super far fetched, but others, not so much... SO I though up stupid sort of head cannons while I was working on these that I just thought I may share; if these pups were cannon, what would they be like and how did mom and dad get together? These stories are COMPLETELY fake and just something I thought about for fun while I worked, so please know I am not trying to god-mod anyone's characters, and I hope it doesn't seem too out of content. It was all just in good fun

The first puppy is Hazel, a daughter fathered by Floral-Fire's Maxwell! Sonja and Maxwell have been friends since Sonja came to Canidale, so the two just got together sort of naturally. Under Valentine's wing Maxwell's edges harden a little bit, but he is still very soft, and he can sometimes manage to pull a soft side out of Sonja. Hazel is a very sweet puppy, taking more after her dad's gentle nature than Sonja's. She is intrigued with humans, while she respects her mothers fear of them, she doesn't understand it. Hazel is a gentle cuddle bug and likely ends up as a pampered pet in Canidale. She takes after her daddy in color but is pretty even in sharing markings from both her parents; she gets her freckles from her grand-dog Tyler!

October is second in line, daughter of Ramala's Grim! Sonja and Grim fall into the category of crack pairs, but I have to confess, Grim is easily amongst my favorite characters in all of Canidale, so I couldn't resist! How did this crack pairing happen? Sonja found herself fascinated with the graveyard; it was a place she could observe humans without being bothered. She quickly also noticed the dog guarding the graveyard however, and admired his guardian like spirit. The two probably got to know each other and Sonja hung around more, and soon October was bounding around too. October is definitely a bright light in the graveyard, enjoying comforting people who are their to mourn lost loved ones. October's warmth towards humans makes Sonja nervous, but she knows her daughter is safe under the watch of Grim. It is likely she would become a pet and carry on in the graveyard after Grim is gone. October is sweet and a little naive to the ways of the world. She mostly takes after Grim in color but has her mom's piercing eyes and orange accents.

The third pup is the son of Kiwiaka's Desoto, Dallas! The only boy of the batch of hypo pups, and admittedly, my favorite! I imagine Desoto and Sonja had a relationship that mirrored that of Desoto's parents; at first the two were very hot and cold. At first they were enemies, but after a series of misadventures develop an unconditional bond. They are partners in business and love, and eventually they add Dallas to their family. Dallas is an old soul, skeptical of the world. He has a deep appreciation for simplicity, and a simple life is all he wants. Dallas doesn't like to put much effort into things, but he will protect anyone that is dear to him with his life; if he had siblings I imagine he would be extremely protective of them. A little stoic, and too familiar with the hardships associated with stray life. The streets are where Dallas is raised, and if it's up to him he'll keep it this way. He's a pretty good combination of both of his parents, a base coat like his dad but markings that reflect mostly his mom. A very handsome little boy <3

Finally we have Delilah, the product of what is easily the most crack pairing here, Ruechilla's Lancer and Sonja. I think the only event in which this pairing would occur would be as a result of some /very/ short lived romance between the two that results in Delilah. Sonja initially wouldn't want to tell him of her pregnancy and disappears but when Delilah is old enough to be mobile, she returns and tells Lancer. The two are not romantically involved any further but Sonja allows him to be involved in Delilah's rearing - something the sort of later regrets. It is immediately clear that Delilah was born for life on a farm when she takes after her father's noble herding behaviors. Initially Sonja is resentful of this as Delilah becomes disinterested in her street life, but when she sees just how happy a life Delilah has being a pet (I imagine she is taken in by a neighboring farm?), Sonja can't be angry. Delilah has colors like her mom but her markings and characteristics mostly reflect her dad! She does however bare her mother's sharp blue eyes which help her in intimidating farm animals into place!

OKAY that was way more than necessary, but as I drew each of these pups, I came up with these little head cannons. I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH that these are NOT cannon and I hope these stories don't offend any other users, it was totally in good fun! I'm sort of a sucker for romance/shipping, so my crack stories were fun to write, haha. It was hard to not think about the pups' personalities in the process!I had a lot of fun drawing these babies and it was a great way to familiarize myself with many other dogs in Canidale - it was hard to narrow it down to just these four, I contemplated doing a second batch!
